Hurrah

Dry rot is only mushrooms on damp wallpaper. Just the roof to replace then; we might keep the downstairs loo after all :-)

And I've finally figured out what is going to go in Chapter 7, after two months of writing stuff and ripping it up (literally- lots of lined notebooks). Which is almost as much of a relief as the mushrooms. This is an awful lot of work for something inherently unpublishable, but I guess the alternative is just doing more sudoku.

Absolutely nothing on TV at the moment, except House. What have we done to deserve this? Son and I are reduced to watching old episodes of Yes Minister.

This is bad

Leaking roof and extensive stuff that looks remarkably like dry rot. All behind my games shelves, so the games are all piled high in the living room. I suspect we are either going to be very poor, or possibly a little less poor but without a downstairs extension and with a very large heap of bricks. I shall have to hire a portaloo for parties, and god knows where the games are going to live. And the fish.

Got the specialist coming round tomorrow to poke and tut.

On the plus side, my occupational health assessor person yesterday seemed to think that my employer ought to carry on employing me. And that my continued presence at work was admirable. He said, rather amazed, "Between episodes you have what is nearly a normal life!" He clearly hasn't seen the living room.

Need a new cat.
