Blog likely to be defunct

I don't think I'll be posting much here for a while. Much to my surprise, Facebook actually does this sort of "hello, I'm here, feeling X today, look at that pretty bird over there" thing much better.

Harsh but fair

Just had a valuer round since our fixed rate mortgage is just about to run out (bleah). Apparently our house would be worth 15k more if we could make it look like a house and not a student hall of residence.

But he thought Wyvern was wonderful.

Better now

Long time since I posted. Things much improved.

Just got back from weekend in Brecons with Beloved; Son managed not to throw any wild parties (or at least clear up well) in our absence. Beautiful weather, beautiful hills, if strangely quiet- very few birds. Ravens in abundance though, which is always a good thing. My favourite birds.

Sore feet though- think I wore Son's boots by accident. Lots of blisters but nothing to stop us finishing walking; we did about 6 miles each day with a lot of up and down in that. Fell asleep in our little tent before dark- slept 12 hours, no problem. Still tired but feeling good.

Tomorrow we go back to visit Beloved's mostly reserved kitten. We saw him a couple of weeks ago- the most friendly of the litter- they hadn't really been handled enought but he was the family favourite so got used to people. Breeder was going to try to handle the rest more so hopefully they will all be rather less skittish about people tomorrow. He's due to come back in a week's time provided we're still happy with him.

Beloved going to a beach tournament in Italy on Wed for a few days.

My computer still wonderful. I have a dashboard full of vital applications such as Wikipedia and the Guardian news headlines, and a little thing that flashes red if Andrew's blog gets updated (I haven't seen this in action yet.) I still need to get Itunes to see our external hard drive though- that might take someone who knows what they are doing.

Out to dinner with my colleagues in London later, then crash in hotel room. Long way away from wild campsite in the Beacons and iodinised stream water. All good.

On the plus side...

there is now a kitten vacancy in the household.

Sadly I found Fluffy a short distance along the canal while kayaking. I am not generally a squeamish person, but kneeling in the brambles trying to get a heavy, waterlogged, week old corpse of a much loved pet out of a canal while fending off an inquisitive Abyssinian has gone down on my list of most horrible experiences ever.

Nothing else to say today.
